Where tile wins
Tile is harder wearing, completely indifferent to water, and stays cooler underfoot in an Arizona summer. Large-format wood-look tile now looks convincing enough that the aesthetic argument has largely gone away. If you have dogs, kids, a pool door, or you want one floor you will never think about again, tile is the answer.
Where LVP wins
LVP is warmer and quieter underfoot, more forgiving of a subfloor that is not perfectly flat, faster to install and easier on the budget. It also handles slab movement better than tile does, since it floats. For bedrooms and living areas it is often the more comfortable floor to actually live on.
The subfloor decides more than you think
Tile is unforgiving of a slab that is out of level and will telegraph movement as cracked grout. If prep work is needed, it needs to be in the quote. A cheap tile quote that skips floor prep is not cheaper, it is deferred.
The detail that matters either way
Transitions and trim. Running one floor through the whole house rather than changing at every doorway is what makes a home read as finished, and replacing baseboard and door casing with the floor is what stops the edges looking patched.
